Masonry Is Just a Fraternal Organization, Not a Religion

THE CLAIM: Freemasonry is a philanthropic brotherhood, not a religion. It has no creed, no dogma, no savior. It's just men doing charity and building character together.

THE SCRIPTURE: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." — 1 Timothy 2:5-6 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "We never say we're a religion. We welcome men of all faiths. We just encourage each man to be faithful to his own belief system. There's nothing religious about fraternity."

THE RESPONSE: Albert Pike — Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite and author of the authoritative Masonic text "Morals and Dogma" (1871) — wrote plainly:

"Every Masonic Lodge is a temple of religion; and its teachings are instruction in religion." (Morals and Dogma, p.213)

Albert Pike also wrote: "Masonry is a search after Light. That search leads us directly back, as you see, to the Kabalah." (Morals and Dogma, p.741)

Consider the evidence: The Lodge has an ALTAR at its center. It requires a "Volume of the Sacred Law" (a Bible, Quran, or other scripture) to be open during meetings. Every meeting opens and closes with PRAYER. Members take solemn ritual OATHS invoking God. The Lodge teaches a path to the "Celestial Lodge Above" — its version of heaven — earned through Masonic virtue. It has its own resurrection narrative (Hiram Abiff), its own symbols of salvation (the lambskin apron), and its own name for God (the Great Architect of the Universe).

An altar, scripture, prayer, oaths, a path to heaven, a resurrection story, and a god — if that is not religion, the word has no meaning.

And if it IS religion, then 1 Timothy 2:5 destroys its foundation: there is ONE mediator between God and men — Christ Jesus. Not a Lodge. Not a ritual. Not a secret handshake. One mediator. One way. One name.

THE CALL: Brother, if the Lodge is truly just a fraternity — why does it have an altar? Why does it pray? Why does it promise you heaven? Something that walks like religion, talks like religion, and worships like religion IS religion. And any religion that is not built on Christ alone is built on sand.

The Secret Oaths — Pledging Your Life on Pain of Death

THE CLAIM: Masonic oaths are just symbolic traditions — no one actually gets their throat cut. They're formalities, like swearing on a Bible in court.

THE SCRIPTURE: "But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." — Matthew 5:34-37 (KJV)

"But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation." — James 5:12 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "These penalties are symbolic. They come from an older era. No one takes them literally. It's just tradition — like wearing a cap and gown at graduation."

THE RESPONSE: In the Entered Apprentice (1st degree) initiation, every Mason swears this oath:

"...binding myself under no less penalty than that of having my throat cut across, my tongue torn out by its roots, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea, at low-water mark, where the tide ebbs and flows twice in twenty-four hours, should I ever knowingly violate this my solemn oath and obligation as an Entered Apprentice Mason. So help me God."

In the Fellow Craft (2nd degree): "...under no less penalty than that of having my left breast torn open, my heart plucked out, and given as a prey to the wild beasts of the field and the vultures of the air."

In the Master Mason (3rd degree): "...under no less penalty than that of having my body severed in twain, my bowels taken from thence and burned to ashes, the ashes scattered to the four winds of heaven."

It does not matter whether these penalties are "symbolic" or "literal." Jesus did not say "Swear not at all — unless it's symbolic." He said SWEAR NOT AT ALL. James said "above ALL things, my brethren, swear not... lest ye fall into condemnation."

The command is absolute. And a Christian who kneels at a Masonic altar and swears on pain of having his throat cut, his heart ripped out, and his body severed — even symbolically — has directly violated the explicit words of Jesus Christ.

"Whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." This oath comes from evil. Full stop.

THE CALL: You stood before an altar that was not God's altar, placed your hand on a Bible whose Author forbids what you were about to do, and swore an oath Jesus explicitly told you never to swear. The good news: God forgives. Repent of the oath. Renounce it. Walk free. Your 'Yea' to Jesus is the only oath you need.

The "Great Architect of the Universe" — Masonry's False God

THE CLAIM: Masonry doesn't have its own god. It simply asks each member to believe in a Supreme Being — and each man is free to call that being by whatever name his religion uses. Muslims call Him Allah, Christians call Him God, Hindus call Him Brahma — it's all the same deity.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." — Exodus 20:3 (KJV)

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." — John 14:6 (KJV)

"Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also." — 1 John 2:23 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "We don't tell anyone what to believe. We respect all faiths. Masonry is tolerant and inclusive — surely that's a good thing? We just use 'the Great Architect of the Universe' as a universal term so no one is excluded."

THE RESPONSE: The Masonic god is called the "Great Architect of the Universe" (GAOTU). This is not a neutral placeholder — it is a theological statement. It says: ALL gods are the same god under different names. Allah, Vishnu, Jehovah, the Sikh Waheguru, the Zoroastrian Ahura Mazda — all equal, all valid, all welcomed at the same altar.

Albert Mackey, one of Masonry's greatest authorities, wrote in the "Encyclopedia of Freemasonry": "The religion of Masonry is not sectarian. It admits men of every creed within its hospitable bosom, rejecting none and approving none for his peculiar faith."

But Scripture is not tolerant on this point. Exodus 20:3 — "Thou shalt have NO other gods before me." Not "have other gods if you're polite about it." NO other gods.

John 14:6 — Jesus said He is THE way. Not A way. THE way. No man comes to the Father BUT BY HIM.

1 John 2:23 — "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father." A Muslim in the Lodge denies that Jesus is the Son of God. A Hindu in the Lodge denies that Jesus is the only way. If they do not have the Father — then the "god" they worship at the Lodge altar is NOT the Father. And if the Lodge says their god IS the same as yours — the Lodge is lying about who God is.

The GAOTU is an idol. It is a man-made concept designed to make every religion feel comfortable — and in doing so, it strips Christ of His exclusive claim as the ONLY way to the Father.

THE CALL: Brother, think about what you are doing when you kneel at an altar beside a Muslim, a Hindu, and a Buddhist, and pray to a god that all four of you supposedly share. The God of Scripture has a Son — and His Son has a name — JESUS. Any god who doesn't require that name is not the God of the Bible. You cannot worship the true God at an altar designed to accommodate false ones.

Lucifer Is "the Light-Bearer" in Masonic Theology

THE CLAIM: Masonry is about seeking "Light" — moral and intellectual illumination. There is nothing dark about it.

THE SCRIPTURE: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit." — Isaiah 14:12-15 (KJV)

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." — John 8:44 (KJV)

"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." — 2 Corinthians 11:14 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "Albert Pike didn't worship Lucifer. That passage is taken out of context. He was just discussing ancient symbolism. Masonry is not Satanic."

THE RESPONSE: Albert Pike, 33rd degree Mason and Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite's Southern Jurisdiction, wrote in "Morals and Dogma" (p.321):

"LUCIFER, the Light-bearer! Strange and mysterious name to give to the Spirit of Darkness! Lucifer, the Son of the Morning! Is it he who bears the Light, and with its splendors intolerable, blinds feeble, sensual, or selfish souls? Doubt it not!"

Pike further wrote in his "Instructions" to the 23 Supreme Councils of the World (recorded July 14, 1889): "That which we must say to the crowd is — We worship a God, but it is the God that one adores without superstition... The Masonic religion should be, by all of us initiates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of the LUCIFERIAN doctrine."

Pike presented a dualistic theology where Lucifer (the "Light-bearer") is the GOOD principle and Adonay (the God of the Bible) is the God of DARKNESS and EVIL. This is not out of context. This is the theology of the man who wrote the authoritative text of Scottish Rite Masonry.

Isaiah 14:12-15 identifies Lucifer as a FALLEN being cast down to hell for his pride. John 8:44 identifies Satan as a murderer and liar from the beginning. And 2 Corinthians 11:14 warns: "Satan himself is transformed into an angel of LIGHT."

Masonry calls itself a search for "Light." Its highest authority calls Lucifer the "Light-bearer." Scripture warns that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. The pieces are not hidden — they are in plain sight.

THE CALL: When you were initiated, they told you that you were coming from darkness into light. Ask yourself: whose light? The true Light — Jesus Christ — never needed secret rituals, blood oaths, or hidden doctrines. He said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness" (John 8:12). If the Lodge's light requires you to hide it, it is not the light of Christ.

Hiram Abiff — The Masonic "Savior"

THE CLAIM: The Hiram Abiff story is just an allegory — a teaching tool about fidelity and honor. It has nothing to do with replacing Jesus.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." — Acts 4:12 (KJV)

"And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain." — 1 Corinthians 15:14 (KJV)

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." — 1 Corinthians 3:11 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "Hiram Abiff is a legendary figure used to teach moral lessons. No Mason considers him a savior. It's a drama — like a play — not a theology."

THE RESPONSE: The central ritual of the Master Mason (3rd) degree is the Legend of Hiram Abiff. According to Masonic tradition, Hiram Abiff was the chief architect of Solomon's Temple who possessed the secret "Master's Word." Three ruffians attacked him, demanding the secret. He refused to reveal it and was murdered.

In the initiation ritual: — The candidate PLAYS the role of Hiram Abiff — He is struck on the head and "KILLED" — He is wrapped in a burial shroud and placed in a symbolic GRAVE — He is RAISED from the dead by the Worshipful Master using the secret grip called the "Strong Grip of the Lion's Paw" (or the "Five Points of Fellowship") — Upon being raised, he receives the substitute for the lost "Master's Word"

This is a DEATH and RESURRECTION narrative. The candidate dies, is buried, and is raised to new life through a secret name and a secret grip. This is a counterfeit gospel — a false resurrection that replaces the historical, bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ with a mythological Lodge ritual.

Acts 4:12 — there is NO OTHER NAME whereby we must be saved. Not Hiram Abiff. 1 Corinthians 15:14 — if Christ be not risen, our faith is VAIN. Christ's resurrection is not a symbol. It is not an allegory. It is HISTORICAL FACT — the singular event upon which all of Christianity stands. It cannot be reduced to a Lodge drama performed by men in aprons.

The Masonic Encyclopedia by Albert Mackey states: "The legend of the third degree... is the most important and significant of the legendary symbols of Freemasonry." If the most important symbol of your organization is a death-and-resurrection story that is NOT about Jesus Christ — you are in a false religion.

THE CALL: Brother, you lay in a symbolic grave and were raised by a human grip. But there is a REAL resurrection — accomplished not by the hand of man but by the power of God. Jesus Christ walked out of a real tomb on a real morning, and He alone has the power to raise you to eternal life. Why settle for a ritual when the reality is freely offered to you?

The Masonic "Apron" and False Righteousness

THE CLAIM: The white lambskin apron is a beautiful symbol of purity and innocence. It represents the Mason's commitment to a moral life.

THE SCRIPTURE: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." — Isaiah 64:6 (KJV)

"Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment." — Zechariah 3:3-4 (KJV)

"And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." — Revelation 7:14 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "The apron is just a symbol — like wearing a cross. It doesn't replace Christ's atonement. We never claim the apron saves us."

THE RESPONSE: During the Entered Apprentice investiture, the candidate is presented with the white lambskin apron and told:

"The Lamb has in all ages been deemed an emblem of innocence; he, therefore, who wears the Lambskin as a badge of Masonry is thereby continually reminded of that purity of life and conduct which is so essentially necessary to his gaining admission into the Celestial Lodge above, where the Supreme Architect of the Universe presides forever."

The Lodge also declares: "It is more ancient than the Golden Fleece or Roman Eagle, more honorable than the Star and Garter, or any other order that could be conferred upon you at this or any future period by king, prince, potentate, or any other person."

Notice what the Lodge teaches: 1. The apron represents PURITY that gains ADMISSION to heaven ("the Celestial Lodge above") 2. This apron is the HIGHEST honor a man can receive 3. The lamb symbolizes YOUR innocence — not Christ's sacrifice

But Isaiah 64:6 says ALL our righteousnesses — our best moral efforts — are as FILTHY RAGS before God. Not white lambskin. Filthy rags.

Zechariah 3:3-4 shows God's method: Joshua the high priest stood in FILTHY garments (representing sin). God did not tell Joshua to put on a better garment. GOD HIMSELF removed the filthy clothes and clothed Joshua in clean raiment. Righteousness is not earned or worn — it is GIVEN by God.

Revelation 7:14 — robes made white not by moral effort, not by Lodge membership, not by a lambskin apron, but by THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. The Lamb is not a symbol of YOUR innocence. The Lamb is JESUS CHRIST, slain for YOUR sin.

THE CALL: That apron you treasure — it cannot save you. It cannot make you pure. It cannot gain you entrance to heaven. Only one Lamb matters — the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Take off the apron of self-righteousness and put on the righteousness of Christ, freely given to all who believe.

The Masonic Third Degree and Blasphemous Ritual

THE CLAIM: The Master Mason degree is a meaningful initiation ceremony that builds character. The death-and-resurrection drama teaches perseverance and faithfulness.

THE SCRIPTURE: "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation." — Hebrews 9:28 (KJV)

"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God." — Hebrews 10:10-12 (KJV)

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." — John 11:25 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "It's just a ceremony. Nobody thinks they're actually dying and rising. It's theater — symbolic — not a theological statement."

THE RESPONSE: In the Master Mason (3rd degree) ritual, the following occurs in exact sequence:

1. The candidate represents Hiram Abiff, the legendary builder of Solomon's Temple. 2. Three "ruffians" (played by Lodge members) demand the secret Master's Word. 3. The candidate is struck with a setting maul on the forehead and "KILLED." 4. His "body" is wrapped and carried to a grave. 5. Fellow Craft Masons attempt to raise him with their grip — and FAIL. 6. The Worshipful Master approaches and raises the candidate using the "Strong Grip of the Lion's Paw" (the Master Mason's grip) and the "Five Points of Fellowship." 7. Upon being raised, the candidate receives the substitute Master's Word — "MAH-HAH-BONE" — whispered at low breath. 8. The candidate is declared to have passed from death to life.

This is not theater. This is a ritual enactment of death, burial, and resurrection — the EXACT pattern of the gospel of Jesus Christ. But instead of Christ doing the raising, the WORSHIPFUL MASTER does it. Instead of faith in Jesus, the means of resurrection is a SECRET GRIP. Instead of the name of Jesus, the saving word is "Mah-Hah-Bone."

Hebrews 9:28 — Christ was offered ONCE. Not reenacted in lodges. Not dramatized for initiates. ONCE. Hebrews 10:10-12 — the offering of Christ's body was ONCE FOR ALL. He sat down — the work is FINISHED.

John 11:25 — Jesus said "I AM the resurrection and the life." Not the Worshipful Master. Not the Lion's Paw. Not a secret word. HE is the resurrection.

The Lodge takes the most sacred event in human history — the death and resurrection of God's Son — and turns it into a fraternal initiation available to any man who pays his dues, regardless of whether he believes in Jesus at all. This is not symbolism. This is blasphemy.

THE CALL: You were raised from a symbolic grave by a human hand and a secret word. But there is a real resurrection, accomplished by the power of the living God, available not through secret knowledge but through simple faith in Jesus Christ. The Master of the universe already raised Himself from the grave — and He offers to raise you too. Not with a grip, but with grace.

Pledging Allegiance to the Lodge Above God, Family, and Country

THE CLAIM: Masonry teaches good citizenship, patriotism, and family values. It makes men better husbands, fathers, and citizens.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good." — Romans 13:1-4 (KJV)

"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." — Proverbs 28:13 (KJV)

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." — Exodus 20:16 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "Masonry teaches us to be law-abiding citizens. We support our communities. The oaths of brotherhood simply encourage loyalty and mutual support — like any fraternity."

THE RESPONSE: The Royal Arch degree oath states:

"A companion Royal Arch Mason's secrets, given me in charge as such, and I knowing him to be such, shall remain as secure and inviolable, in my breast as in his own, when communicated to me, murder and treason excepted."

Note the phrase: "murder and treason EXCEPTED." This means that for EVERY OTHER CRIME — fraud, theft, assault, abuse, perjury, cover-ups — the Mason is sworn to PROTECT his brother's secret. Earlier versions of this oath did NOT include the murder and treason exception at all.

In the Master Mason obligation, the candidate swears: "I will keep a worthy brother Master Mason's secrets inviolable, when communicated to and received by me as such, murder and treason excepted."

The implications are staggering. If a fellow Mason confides that he has committed fraud, embezzlement, abuse, or any crime short of murder or treason — you are oath-bound to keep his secret. You are sworn to protect a criminal rather than pursue justice.

Romans 13:1-4 commands obedience to governing authorities — because they are ordained by God to punish evil and reward good. A system that helps men evade earthly justice is working AGAINST God's ordained order.

Proverbs 28:13 — "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper." The Lodge institutionalizes the covering of sin. It makes concealment a sacred duty.

Exodus 20:16 — bearing false witness. When a Mason conceals a brother's crimes, he becomes complicit. When he is questioned and stays silent, he bears false witness by omission.

THE CALL: Ask yourself: if your Lodge brother confessed a terrible sin to you — something that hurt someone, destroyed a family, or broke the law — could you in good conscience keep that secret? Could you look the victim in the eye and say nothing? Your oath to the Lodge says yes. Your God says no. Which will you obey?

Masonry and the Occult Connections

THE CLAIM: Masonry uses ancient symbols for moral teaching. The all-seeing eye, the compass and square, and other symbols are architectural — not occult.

THE SCRIPTURE: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." — Ephesians 5:11 (KJV)

"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee." — Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (KJV)

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." — 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "You're connecting symbols that have nothing to do with each other. The all-seeing eye represents God's omniscience. These are moral symbols, not magic."

THE RESPONSE: As a Mason ascends through the degrees — from the Blue Lodge (1st-3rd), through the Scottish Rite (4th-33rd) or York Rite — the symbolism becomes increasingly esoteric and explicitly occult:

• The ALL-SEEING EYE — shared with the Egyptian Eye of Horus, used extensively in occult traditions as a symbol of hidden knowledge and spiritual illumination.

• The INVERTED PENTAGRAM — appears in the Order of the Eastern Star (the women's Masonic organization) and in higher-degree Masonic illustrations. Albert Pike wrote: "The Blazing Star... originally represented SIRIUS" (Morals and Dogma, p.15) — and the inverted five-pointed star has been a symbol of dark magic for centuries.

• KABBALISTIC SYMBOLISM — Pike wrote extensively about the Kabbalah: "Masonry is a search after Light. That search leads us directly back, as you see, to the Kabalah" (Morals and Dogma, p.741). The Kabbalah is Jewish mysticism — an occult tradition involving numerology, secret names of God, and esoteric cosmology.

• The OUROBOROS (serpent eating its own tail) — appears in Masonic symbolism as a symbol of eternity, shared with Hermeticism, alchemy, and Gnosticism.

• The 17th degree (Knight of the East and West) incorporates the Book of Revelation's imagery. The 28th degree (Knight of the Sun) teaches a synthesis of ALL world religions. The 30th degree (Knight Kadosh) includes trampling on the papal tiara and royal crown.

Albert Manly Hall, 33rd degree Mason, wrote in "The Lost Keys of Freemasonry" (1923): "When the Mason learns that the key to the warrior on the block is the proper application of the dynamo of living power, he has learned the mystery of his Craft. The seething energies of LUCIFER are in his hands."

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 lists divination, enchantment, witchcraft, consulting spirits, and necromancy as ABOMINATIONS. Ephesians 5:11 says have NO fellowship with the works of darkness — but REPROVE them.

A Christian who progresses in Masonry WILL encounter direct occult content. The deeper you go, the darker it gets — by design.

THE CALL: You may have joined at the Blue Lodge level and never seen any of this. But the foundation you stand on was built by men who openly wrote about Lucifer, the Kabbalah, and occult power. The question is not whether YOU practice the occult — it's whether you want to belong to an organization whose highest teachings are rooted in it. God says: have no fellowship with darkness. Come into the light.

"In the Name of the Most High" — Jesus's Name Removed

THE CLAIM: Masonic prayers are respectful and reverent. They simply use universal language so that men of all faiths can pray together.

THE SCRIPTURE: "And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you." — John 16:23 (KJV)

"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." — Colossians 3:17 (KJV)

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." — Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "We don't forbid anyone from praying to Jesus privately. We simply keep Lodge prayers inclusive. You can still be a Christian outside the Lodge. We're just being considerate of others."

THE RESPONSE: Masonic authorities are explicit on this point. The "Maryland Master Mason" magazine instructed:

"Prayers in the lodges should be addressed to the one Deity to whom all Masons refer as the Grand Architect of the Universe... and not to the specific deity in the theology of any one religion."

In practice, this means: if a Christian chaplain in a Lodge closes a prayer "in Jesus's name," he will be corrected. He will be told that such prayers are sectarian and offensive to non-Christian brothers. He must pray to "the Grand Architect," "the Most High," "the Supreme Being" — never to Jesus Christ by name.

But Scripture is absolute on this:

John 16:23 — Jesus said ask the Father IN MY NAME. Not in the name of the Grand Architect. IN MY NAME.

Colossians 3:17 — WHATSOEVER ye do in word or deed, do ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus. Not some things. Not private things. ALL things.

Philippians 2:9-11 — God gave Jesus a name ABOVE EVERY NAME. Above "Grand Architect." Above "Most High" (when used as a substitute to avoid Jesus). Above every title the Lodge can invent. At that name, EVERY knee shall bow.

The Lodge says: "Don't use that name here — it offends people." God says: "I gave Him that name so that EVERY knee would bow to it."

A fellowship that requires you to silence the name of Jesus in prayer is a fellowship that has sided against Christ. There is no way to soften this. If you cannot pray in Jesus's name, you cannot pray as a Christian. And if you cannot pray as a Christian in the Lodge — the Lodge is no place for a Christian.

THE CALL: Have you been silencing the name of Jesus to keep peace in the Lodge? The Prince of Peace does not ask you to deny His name for the sake of human harmony. He said, "Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 10:33). Speak His name. If the Lodge cannot bear it — that tells you everything you need to know.

Double Life — The Hidden Nature of Masonic Membership

THE CLAIM: Every organization has some private matters. Masonic secrecy is no different from attorney-client privilege or doctor-patient confidentiality. It's just discretion.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing." — John 18:20 (KJV)

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." — Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV)

"For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light." — Ephesians 5:12-13 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "We're not hiding anything sinister. The 'secrets' are just modes of recognition — handshakes, passwords, ritual words. It's tradition, not conspiracy."

THE RESPONSE: If Masonic secrets are merely handshakes and passwords — why do Masons swear, under penalty of having their throats cut, tongues torn out, and bodies severed — to never reveal them? Why does revealing ritual carry the threat of expulsion and social ostracism?

The reality is that Masonic secrecy covers far more than handshakes: — The full content of initiation RITUALS (including the death-and-resurrection drama) — The OATHS themselves (many Masons are surprised when non-Masons quote their own oaths back to them) — The THEOLOGY embedded in higher degrees — The true MEANING of symbols as taught in the Scottish Rite and York Rite — Internal Lodge BUSINESS, disciplinary proceedings, and fraternal obligations

Albert Pike wrote in "Morals and Dogma" (p.819): "Masonry, like all the Religions, all the Mysteries, Hermeticism and Alchemy, conceals its secrets from all except the Adepts and Sages, or the Elect, and uses false explanations and misinterpretations of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be misled."

Read that again. Pike — Masonry's greatest authority — admits the Lodge DELIBERATELY gives FALSE explanations to lower-degree Masons. The majority of Masons are intentionally kept in the dark about what their own organization truly teaches.

Jesus said: "In secret have I said NOTHING" (John 18:20). The gospel is proclaimed openly — from rooftops, in public, to all nations. Truth does not hide.

Matthew 5:14-16 — you are the LIGHT of the world. Let your light SHINE before men. Not under a bushel. Not behind closed Lodge doors. Not under blood oaths of secrecy.

Ephesians 5:12-13 — "it is a SHAME even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret." If it would be shameful to describe publicly — why is it acceptable to do privately?

THE CALL: Brother, ask yourself an honest question: if everything in the Lodge is innocent, why can't you tell your wife about it? Why can't you describe your initiation to your pastor? Why does a "fraternal organization" need blood oaths of secrecy? Jesus operated in the open. The truth has nothing to hide. If your brotherhood requires you to hide — it is not walking in the light.

Can a Christian Be a Freemason? — The Historic Position of the Church

THE CLAIM: Plenty of Christians are Masons. Many pastors, deacons, and church leaders are members. If it were wrong, wouldn't the church have said something?

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" — 2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV)

"And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word." — 1 Kings 18:21 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "My grandfather was a Mason and a godly man. My pastor is a Mason. George Washington was a Mason. If these great Christians could be Masons, why can't I?"

THE RESPONSE: The church HAS spoken — repeatedly and across denominations:

• The ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH banned Freemasonry in 1738 under Pope Clement XII ("In Eminenti"). The ban was reaffirmed by Pope Leo XIII in 1884 ("Humanum Genus") and again in 1983 by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith under Cardinal Ratzinger (later Pope Benedict XVI): "The faithful who enroll in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion."

• The SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION studied Freemasonry in 1993 and concluded: "Many tenets and teachings of Freemasonry are NOT compatible with Christianity and Southern Baptist doctrine." They noted the Masonic oaths, the syncretic theology, and the exclusion of Christ's name.

• The CHURCH OF SCOTLAND declared in 1989: "There are very clear grounds for disquiet" about Masonic practices and theology.

• The METHODIST CHURCH OF ENGLAND concluded in 1985 that Masonic rituals are "blasphemous" and that the Masonic claim of compatibility with Christianity is "critically flawed."

• The ORTHODOX CHURCH — the Greek Orthodox Church declared in 1933 that Masonry is incompatible with Christianity.

• The LUTHERAN CHURCH (Missouri Synod) has stated that "Masonry amounts to idolatry" and that lodge membership is incompatible with Christian faith.

These are not fringe opinions. Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Orthodox, Lutherans, Presbyterians — across centuries and continents — have examined Masonry and reached the same conclusion: it is incompatible with the Christian faith.

Matthew 6:24 — no man can serve TWO masters. The Lodge demands your allegiance, your secrecy, your participation in rituals that contradict Scripture. Christ demands your whole heart. You cannot give both what they require.

2 Corinthians 6:14 — what fellowship has light with darkness? What communion does the Christian have with an altar where Jesus's name cannot be spoken?

THE CALL: The fact that many Christians are Masons does not make it right — it makes it tragic. Many sincere believers joined without knowing what they were joining. But now you know. The question Elijah asked on Mount Carmel is the question before you: "How long halt ye between two opinions? If the LORD be God, follow Him." Choose today.

What About Shriners and Other "Christian" Masonic Groups?

THE CLAIM: The Shriners do incredible charity work — Shriners Hospitals for Children provide free medical care to kids. Prince Hall Masonry serves the Black community. The Order of the Eastern Star supports women's causes. Surely the good fruit proves the tree is good?

THE SCRIPTURE: "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." — Matthew 7:22-23 (KJV)

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." — 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (KJV)

"Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD." — Jeremiah 17:5 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "You're attacking an organization that heals sick children. How can you call that evil? Judge a tree by its fruit — and the Shriners' fruit is children walking again."

THE RESPONSE: No one disputes that Shriners Hospitals do good medical work. But charitable output does not validate spiritual foundations. Consider:

1. To become a SHRINER, you must FIRST be a Master Mason (3rd degree). You must have already taken the blood oaths, participated in the Hiram Abiff death-and-resurrection ritual, and accepted the Lodge's syncretic theology. The Shriners are not an independent charity — they are the top layer of the Masonic system.

2. The Shriners' full name is the "Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine." The initiation involves swearing an oath on the QURAN (the "Bible of the Moor") and invoking ALLAH: "In willful violation whereof may I incur the fearful penalty of having my eyeballs pierced to the center with a three-edged blade, my feet flayed and I be forced to walk the hot sands upon the sterile shores of the Red Sea." A Christian swearing on the Quran and invoking Allah — to join a children's charity.

3. Matthew 7:22-23 is devastating here. Jesus did not say "If you do good works, I will know you." He said people will come to Him claiming WONDERFUL WORKS — even works done in His name — and He will say: "I NEVER KNEW YOU." Good works without right relationship to Christ are worthless for salvation.

4. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 — Satan transforms himself into an angel of LIGHT. His ministers transform themselves as ministers of RIGHTEOUSNESS. The most effective deception does not look evil — it looks charitable, honorable, and benevolent. That is what makes it dangerous.

The question is not whether Shriners Hospitals do good work. The question is: can a Christian build a charity on a foundation of blood oaths, false gods, occult symbolism, and the denial of Christ's exclusive lordship — and call it holy because the output is good?

THE CALL: If your heart is to heal children — praise God for that heart. But you do not need to swear on the Quran, invoke Allah, and build on a Masonic foundation to do it. There are a thousand ways to serve children that do not require you to compromise your faith. Give your charity to Christ — not to the Lodge.

The Masonic "Light" Leads to Darkness

THE CLAIM: Masonry is a journey of enlightenment — progressive moral and intellectual growth through ascending degrees. Each degree reveals more "light" — deeper understanding of truth, virtue, and the divine.

THE SCRIPTURE: "That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." — John 1:9 (KJV)

"In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." — Colossians 2:3 (KJV)

"For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?" — 1 Corinthians 1:20-21 (KJV)

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." — Colossians 2:8 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "What's wrong with seeking knowledge and moral improvement? The degrees teach ethics, philosophy, and self-improvement. That can only make a man better."

THE RESPONSE: The entire structure of Freemasonry is built on a Gnostic model — the very heresy that the early church combated and the apostles Paul and John explicitly warned against.

GNOSTICISM teaches: — Salvation comes through SECRET KNOWLEDGE ("gnosis"), not through faith — This knowledge is revealed progressively to INITIATES through ascending levels — The uninitiated masses are kept in darkness — The material world was created by a lesser, often evil god (the Demiurge) — The true god is known only to the enlightened few

FREEMASONRY teaches: — "Light" (knowledge) comes through SECRET RITUALS revealed at each degree — This knowledge is revealed progressively to INITIATES through 33 ascending degrees — Lower-degree Masons are deliberately given FALSE EXPLANATIONS (Pike, Morals and Dogma, p.819) — The God of the Lodge (GAOTU) is different from any particular religion's God — The highest truths are known only to the elite few (32nd and 33rd degree Masons)

The parallel is exact. Masonry IS Gnosticism wearing a fraternal disguise.

But the Gospel is the OPPOSITE of Gnosticism:

John 1:9 — Jesus is the TRUE Light that lights EVERY man. Not a secret light for initiates. Not a progressive light earned through degrees. A light freely given to ALL.

Colossians 2:3 — ALL the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in CHRIST. Not in the 32nd degree. Not in the Scottish Rite. Not in "Morals and Dogma." IN CHRIST. If all wisdom is in Him — what does the Lodge offer that He does not?

1 Corinthians 1:20-21 — God made FOOLISH the wisdom of this world. The world's philosophy CANNOT lead to God. Only the "foolishness of preaching" — the simple gospel of Christ crucified — saves.

Colossians 2:8 — BEWARE of philosophy and vain deceit after the tradition of men. This is Masonry described perfectly — philosophy, tradition, human wisdom, presented as "light."

THE CALL: You were told you were walking from darkness into light. But every step deeper into the Lodge takes you further from the true Light. Jesus Christ does not reveal Himself through degrees, fees, and secret rituals. He reveals Himself to anyone who calls on His name — freely, fully, and without initiation. The light you're chasing is a shadow. The real Light is standing at the door, knocking.

The Final Call — Come Out of the Lodge

THE CLAIM: "I've been a Mason for years. I'm also a Christian. I love my Lodge brothers. I've done good work through the Lodge. Leaving would mean losing friendships, community, and identity. Surely God wouldn't ask me to give all that up."

THE SCRIPTURE: "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." — Revelation 18:4 (KJV)

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." — 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJV)

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." — 1 John 1:9 (KJV)

THEIR OBJECTION: "Leaving would cost me too much. My father was a Mason. My friends are there. I have status in the Lodge. I can be a Christian AND a Mason — I just keep both in their proper place."

THE RESPONSE: Let us review what you have learned across these 15 cards:

1. The Lodge IS a religion — with an altar, prayers, oaths, and a path to heaven (Card 1) 2. You swore BLOOD OATHS that Jesus explicitly forbids (Card 2) 3. The Lodge worships a FALSE GOD — the GAOTU — that accepts all religions equally (Card 3) 4. Masonry's highest authority called LUCIFER the light-bearer and taught a Luciferian doctrine (Card 4) 5. The Lodge has its own COUNTERFEIT RESURRECTION — Hiram Abiff, not Jesus Christ (Card 5) 6. The Masonic apron teaches FALSE RIGHTEOUSNESS — human purity instead of Christ's blood (Card 6) 7. This is not one or two concerns. This is a systematic, comprehensive case from Scripture and from Masonry's OWN authoritative writings.

Revelation 18:4 — "COME OUT of her, my people." God calls His people OUT. Not to reform the Lodge. Not to stay and be salt and light within it. OUT.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 — What fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? What communion has light with darkness? What concord has Christ with Belial? COME OUT and be SEPARATE — and God promises: "I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you."

Matthew 10:37-38 — Following Jesus costs something. It may cost you Lodge friendships. It may cost you status. It may cost you your father's approval. But Jesus said: he that loves ANYTHING more than Me is not worthy of Me.

1 John 1:9 — "If we CONFESS our sins, he is faithful and just to FORGIVE us our sins, and to CLEANSE us from ALL unrighteousness." The blood oaths, the rituals, the years of participation — ALL of it is covered by the blood of Jesus when you repent and confess.

Here is what we ask you to do:

1. REPENT — confess your Masonic involvement to God and ask His forgiveness 2. RENOUNCE — verbally renounce every oath, every vow, every allegiance to the Lodge, in Jesus's name 3. RESIGN — submit your written resignation to your Lodge 4. REMOVE — destroy or dispose of all Masonic regalia, rings, aprons, and literature 5. RECEIVE — receive the full forgiveness and freedom that Christ offers

THE CALL: Brother, we do not judge your heart. Many Masons are sincere, honorable men who joined for fellowship, charity, and brotherhood. They had no idea what they were truly joining. But now you know. And God, who is rich in mercy, is calling you by name: "Come out of her, my people." The Lodge offered you brotherhood — Christ offers you sonship. The Lodge offered you light — Christ IS the Light. The Lodge offered you a path to heaven — Christ IS the Way. You do not need the Lodge. You need Jesus. And He is enough. Come out into full light — the light of Christ. He is waiting for you with open arms.

The Shriner's Oath — Invoking Allah

THE CLAIM: The Shriners (Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine) are a philanthropic organization that does great work for children's hospitals. Their connection to Freemasonry is incidental.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:3). "How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him." (1 Kings 18:21). "Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." (2 Corinthians 6:17)

THEIR OBJECTION: "The Shriner's oath is largely ceremonial — ancient ritual language that doesn't reflect genuine religious belief. The charitable work for children's hospitals is the real purpose of the Shriners."

THE RESPONSE: The Shrine initiation oath requires candidates to swear: "in the name of Allah, the God of Arab, Moslem and Mohammedan, the God of our fathers." A Christian who takes this oath has, under oath, identified Allah as "the God of our fathers" — which is theologically impossible. The God of the Christian's fathers is YHWH, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Allah explicitly denies having a Son (Surah 112:3) — making Allah and YHWH fundamentally different beings. The oath is not empty ceremony — oaths in Scripture are serious: "when thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it... that which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform" (Deuteronomy 23:21,23). A Christian cannot take a vow in the name of Allah without violating their covenant with YHWH. Furthermore, Shrine membership requires being a Master Mason — which itself requires all the prior Masonic oaths and Luciferian theology we have already examined.

THE CALL: The charitable work of the Shriners can be supported through direct donation to children's hospitals — without the oaths, the occult framework, or invoking Allah. "Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus." (Colossians 3:17)

Masonry and Political/Judicial Influence — Justice Above Fraternal Loyalty

THE CLAIM: Freemasonry is a network of ethical men committed to brotherhood and mutual support. The fraternal bonds help members professionally and socially.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's." (Deuteronomy 1:17). THEIR OBJECTION: "Networking and mutual support are normal human activities. Business networks, alumni associations, and family connections all operate similarly. There's nothing unique about Masonic fraternal support."

THE RESPONSE: What distinguishes Masonic fraternal loyalty from normal networking is the OATH — specifically the obligation to support a fellow Mason above other considerations. In some Masonic obligations, members swear to protect fellow Masons in legal proceedings. In the Royal Arch degree, members swear to protect another Mason's secrets "murder and treason excepted" — but even this exception has been interpreted by some lodges as referring only to treason against the Lodge. A Christian judge, lawyer, or police officer who allows Masonic fraternal loyalty to influence their judgment violates their oath to serve justice impartially — and violates Deuteronomy 1:17 directly. Multiple investigations into police departments, judicial systems, and local governments (particularly in the UK and Ireland) have documented cases where Masonic membership created improper influence. The seal of Masonic secrecy around these relationships makes accountability impossible.

THE CALL: Justice is the Lord's (Deut 1:17). A Christian in any position of authority is called to serve God's justice — which cannot be mixed with fraternal loyalty oaths. "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" (Micah 6:8)

The Masonic Ritual — Death and Rebirth as Counterfeit Baptism

THE CLAIM: The Master Mason initiation involves a dramatic ritual: the candidate plays the role of Hiram Abiff, is symbolically killed (struck on the head), carried to a grave, and raised by the "strong grip of the Lion's Paw" — representing resurrection. This is presented as a moral allegory about faithfulness unto death.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:3-4). "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3). "There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism." (Ephesians 4:5)

THEIR OBJECTION: "The Hiram Abiff legend is a moral allegory — it teaches faithfulness to your obligations even unto death. It is no different from stories like the prodigal son or other moral parables. The ritual death and raising symbolize personal transformation."

THE RESPONSE: The ritual death and resurrection motif in Freemasonry is not a general moral allegory — it is a specific counterpart to baptism and the new birth. Romans 6:3-4 describes the Christian's death and resurrection: buried WITH CHRIST through baptism, raised to new life through HIM. This is the authentic death-and-resurrection initiation — union with the actual death and resurrection of the Son of God. The Masonic initiation places the candidate in the role of Hiram Abiff — a fictional figure whose death and resurrection is not connected to the real atonement. The Lodge thus offers a counterfeit of the most sacred act of Christian initiation — available to any religious man of any faith who will swear the oaths — without the cross, without repentance, without Christ. Ephesians 4:5: "one baptism." There is not one baptism for Christians and another for Masons. The Mason's ritual initiation competes with the Christian's baptism as a formative identity event.

THE CALL: Your death and resurrection happened at the cross — in Christ, with Christ, through Christ. That is the only death-and-resurrection initiation that matters. "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live." (Galatians 2:20)

Testimonies of Former Masons Who Left

THE CLAIM: Christianity and Freemasonry are compatible — many sincere Christians have been Masons for decades without spiritual harm. The warnings about Masonry are exaggerated by its critics.

THE SCRIPTURE: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret." (Ephesians 5:11-12). "By their fruits ye shall know them." (Matthew 7:20). "If therefore the Son make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)

THEIR OBJECTION: "I know many wonderful Christian men who are Masons — upright, generous, community-minded people. If Masonry were spiritually dangerous, their lives would show it."

THE RESPONSE: The testimony of men who reached the higher degrees and encountered the explicit content is consistent and damning: Charles G. Finney (19th century revivalist and former Mason) wrote: "Freemasonry is another gospel... it is an attempt to please God by offering a righteousness of works, with no need of Christ's atonement." Jim Shaw (33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner who converted to Christianity) wrote "The Deadly Deception," documenting what he found in the upper degrees. Martin Wagner (former Mason and Lutheran pastor) wrote "Freemasonry: An Interpretation," documenting its theological incompatibility with Christianity. These are not critics who observed from the outside — they are insiders who left after encountering what the Lodge actually teaches at its highest levels. Lower-degree Masons are deliberately kept ignorant of what the upper degrees contain — Albert Pike's own words confirm this in "Morals and Dogma" p. 819: "The Blue Degrees are but the outer court... Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts."

THE CALL: If you are a Christian Mason, pray specifically: "Lord, show me everything about this organization that you want me to see." Then read Albert Pike. Read the rituals of the degrees you have not taken. Then decide. "If therefore the Son make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)

The Eastern Star — The Women's Auxiliary

THE CLAIM: The Order of the Eastern Star is a beautiful organization for Christian women (and men) with biblical themes — its five points represent biblical heroines: Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha, and Electa.

THE SCRIPTURE: "Abstain from all appearance of evil." (1 Thessalonians 5:22). "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." (Ephesians 5:11). "What agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God." (2 Corinthians 6:16)

THEIR OBJECTION: "The Eastern Star uses biblical characters and themes — Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha, and Electa are all biblical figures. The ritual and symbolism are no different from any other women's fraternal organization."

THE RESPONSE: The Order of the Eastern Star uses a five-pointed star (inverted pentagram) as its central symbol — with the point directed downward. The pentagram has deep and documented connections to occult traditions across centuries and cultures, regardless of the intention of individual members. Rob Morris (who created the OES in 1850) drew heavily from Masonic ritual and symbolism. The "biblical" characters are used in ways that depart significantly from their scriptural contexts — and the ritual teaches a path to light through progressive initiation rather than through Christ. Furthermore, the OES requires either a Master Mason or a female relative of a Master Mason for membership — connecting women directly to the Masonic framework we have already examined. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 — "abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil" — does not require certainty of evil, only the appearance. An organization with an inverted pentagram at its center meets this threshold.

THE CALL: Women in the Eastern Star are often genuinely loving, community-minded people. The issue is not their character — it is the framework they are embedded in. Come out into the full light of Christ. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

The Lodge in the Church — Christian Leaders Who Are Masons

THE CLAIM: Many respected Christian ministers and church leaders have been Freemasons — this proves Masonry is compatible with genuine Christian faith.

THE SCRIPTURE: "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Matthew 6:24). "For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve." (Joshua 24:15)

THEIR OBJECTION: "George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and many founding fathers were Masons — and many were also Christians. John Wesley, Voltaire... wait, Voltaire was not a Christian. But many devout Christian ministers have been Masons throughout history."

THE RESPONSE: The presence of Christians in Masonry throughout history does not prove compatibility — it proves that Christians can be deceived or can compartmentalize. The Roman Catholic Church formally condemned Masonry in 1738 — just 21 years after the Grand Lodge of England was formed — because the incompatibility was immediately apparent. Southern Baptist Convention (1993), Church of Scotland, Methodist Church, and many other denominations have issued warnings or condemnations. The Masonic Lodge was specifically designed to be compatible with all religions simultaneously — which means it is compatible with none specifically. A Lodge that admits Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Christians, and atheists as equally eligible members is not a Christian organization — it is a lowest-common-denominator religious synthesis that requires Christians to check their exclusive truth claims at the door. Matthew 6:24 is binary: you cannot serve two masters. The Lodge demands loyalty, oaths, secrecy, and attendance. So does Christ. They are competing total-life frameworks.

THE CALL: Choose you this day whom you will serve. Not both. One. "As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15)

What Masonry Cannot Offer That Christ Does

THE CLAIM: Freemasonry provides brotherhood, moral improvement, charitable work, community, and a sense of purpose and belonging. These are genuine goods that many men find in the Lodge.

THE SCRIPTURE: "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24). "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1). "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:35). "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." (John 15:5)

THEIR OBJECTION: "The Lodge has given me community, purpose, and brotherhood that I didn't find in my church. The men in my Lodge are more genuinely caring and consistent than many Christians I've known."

THE RESPONSE: This critique of the church is often legitimate — church communities frequently fail to provide the genuine brotherhood, accountability, and belonging that men hunger for. But the Lodge's provision of these goods comes with a price: the oaths, the occult connections, the Luciferian theology in the upper degrees, the systematic exclusion of Christ as the exclusive way to God. The genuine needs the Lodge meets are needs that God designed the CHURCH to fulfill — and the church's failure to meet them is not a justification for finding them elsewhere under false spiritual auspices. Proverbs 18:24 speaks of a friend who "sticketh closer than a brother" — this is the quality of friendship available in genuine Christian community. John 13:35 identifies sacrificial love as the mark of Christ's disciples. The solution to a failing church is not the Lodge — it is finding or building genuine Christian community that meets the needs God designed it to meet.

THE CALL: The brotherhood you long for is available in Christ — without oaths sworn in blood, without Hiram Abiff, without Lucifer's light. "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)

How to Leave the Lodge — A Practical Guide

THE CLAIM: After reading all of this, a Mason may feel that leaving would mean losing his brothers, his reputation in the community, and a significant part of his identity.

THE SCRIPTURE: "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Revelation 18:4). "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36). "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." (Galatians 5:1). "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)

THEIR OBJECTION: "I've invested years in the Lodge. My closest friends are Masons. My family has been in the Lodge for generations. If I leave, I lose all of that. And I'm not convinced the Lodge is as dark as you suggest."

THE RESPONSE: The cost is real — and we honor it. But consider what the oaths you have taken actually committed you to: drawing your finger across your throat as the penalty for revealing Masonic secrets. Swearing loyalty to an organization above other loyalties. Invoking a "God" (GAOTU) who accepts all religions equally — which means a God who accepts lies as truth and truth as one option among many. If you are a Christian, those oaths stand in direct contradiction to your baptismal covenant with Christ. The good news is this: Jesus has authority over every oath made to any power. Renouncing Masonic oaths in His name — with genuine repentance — breaks their hold. Thousands of men have done this and testify to a profound sense of spiritual freedom afterward. Here is a simple process: (1) REPENT — confess the oaths as incompatible with your faith in Christ. (2) RENOUNCE — in prayer, specifically renounce each Masonic oath and their penalties, by degree. (3) RESIGN — formally resign from the Lodge in writing. (4) REMOVE — remove all Masonic materials, regalia, and emblems from your home and life. (5) RECEIVE — receive the complete freedom Christ offers. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)

THE CALL: Christ is better than any Lodge. His brotherhood is eternal. His secrets are given freely — not sold through degrees. His light is not Lucifer's — it is the Light of the world. Come out. Come home. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

Conclusion

Freemasonry is incompatible with biblical Christianity. Its oaths violate Jesus' command not to swear. Its rituals invoke the names of pagan deities. Its theology teaches salvation by works and denies the exclusivity of Christ. No Christian can serve two masters — and the Lodge demands a loyalty that belongs to Christ alone. If you or someone you know is involved in Freemasonry, repent, renounce the oaths, and trust in the finished work of Jesus. He is the only Master worth following.
